Interested in using the SMART Board more effectively with your younger students? You may want to take a look at these PBS Interactive Whiteboard Games. They’re divided into categories: Language Arts, Art, Math, and Social Science. You’ll find some old favorites here, as well as some new games.
Trying to find a time when a group can get together? When Is Good is such a simple and useful tool for determining when is best for various people to meet. One person creates an account and “paints” in when he / she is available. Then invitations are sent, and respondents do the same. The “owner” of the calendar can then see when people can and cannot meet (along with respondents’ comments). Try it!
What a wonderful site ZooBorns is! Here you’ll find photos of beautiful, brand-new babies from zoos and aquariums all over the world. Young students who are learning about life cycles and families are going to love this! So so cute!
See below for a wonderful offer from https://www.blossomlearning.com/ (Professional Development for Teachers). For those of you who are in the Memphis City Schools system, you can see the course outline from school, but the links will not be clickable due to the district’s security settings. You’ll have to do the training from home. That said, it’s a good course:

For excellent, comprehensive online SMART Board training, visit smarttech’s training page. New users should start with the video tutorials under the sections entitled SMART Notebook Software 10 Basics or SMART Notebook Software Getting Started. The Tips and Tricks section is great too. I love this material; it’s interesting, practical, and so well-done. Whether you’re a novice or an experienced user, this is a handy resource.
From a recent MCS bulletin:
BookJams Digital Book Report Contest
Have your students pick their favorite book or a book from your lesson plan and create a digital book report. Make grammar rap video, a presentation on symbolism, a play about conflict starring Hester Prynne to Harry Potter, or whatever you dream up! Students compete for $20,000 in prizes. Deadline: October 28, 2010.
NOTE: For the past three years I’ve blogged at cindy.edtechteachers.com, but that site is inaccessible now so here’s the NEW BLOG! I love the ice-blue color and fresh, simple format! Fortunately, all I lost were the posts after January 22, 2010. Of course that’s several month’s worth, but it’s not as bad as it could have been. I’ve combed through the pages, deleted old information and non-working links, and updated content. Welcome to the new Tech Tools home!
I first visited Teacher Planet in search of rubrics, but I’ve returned to it for all sorts of interesting resources: cartoons and other humor, theme units, certificates, gradebooks, and more. Take a look here.
Need a quick and easy way to create slideshows for posting on the web? You may want to try PhotoPeach. Really simple and attractive. You can add both music and text to your presentation AND it isn’t currently blocked in our school district. Instructions for adding text can be found here under the topic Spicing Up Your Posts.

I love this online clock showing both analog and digital time. Users have several options for the clock’s appearance (themes around the clock face are clickable). Also, if you click on the red fish in the bottom left corner, you will be taken to the site’s home page. Great for young kids learning French!
